* Women's script and its relation to glyphs mirror that of ancient Japanese ''Kana'' which only women were taught to read and write, and ''Kanji'' which is mainly derived from Chinese characters, women's script also shares phonetic similarities with kana as they both consist of vowel-consonant pairs (ie. ka ke ki ko ku).
