Allomancer Jak and the Pits of Eltania is a short story about an adventuring Allomancer as told by him, and edited by his Terrisman steward, Handerwym. Handerwym's annotations imply that the narrator is unreliable (prone to exaggeration and ignorance), but we do find out some of information about Koloss society post-Catacendre.

Publishing

It was originally published with the Alloy of Law rule book, an extension of the Mistborn Adventure Game. Later it was released in part on Sanderson's website.[1] Finally it was published as part of Arcanum Unbounded.

Summary

The story started with Jak waking up in a cave, out of metals. He escaped the cave by jumping into the river in the canyon below after licking a tin deposit on the wall of the cave. He was promptly recaptured by the Koloss who wanted to make him their leader and a spike him to make him Koloss. He discovered that his girlfriend Elizandra Dramali was Koloss blooded. He did not want to become a Koloss, so he said that he already was one and would prove it by getting the Survivor's treasure from the bottom of a spear-shaped pool. He dove down and found a chest which he brought back up. It contained a number of Koloss spikes. The Koloss were so excited to have new spikes to increase their numbers that Jak and Elizandra managed to escape. Jak realized that the chest itself was made of aluminum.

Postscript

Note: the Postscript is found in Arcanum Unbounded, a collection of Cosmere stories.

This story is inspired by an idea of Brandon's brother Jordan, who wanted to do a radio drama, scripted by Brandon. The character Jak is meant to be in contrast to the more genuine, serious character of Wax, like the Adam West Batman versus the current Batman. Unlike The Eleventh Metal, this story is meant for for established readers of the Mistborn (Series), revealing how Koloss are made in the post-Catacendre era.
