This rattle appears to refer to Kaladin and [[Shallan Davar]] returning to the Warcamps at the [[Shattered Plains]] following an ill-fated expedition. The "pit" is a reference to the chasms and the "two dead men" are Kaladin and Shallan, presumed to be dead after falling into a chasm. The "heart" is an emerald [[gemheart]] they harvested from a [[chasmfiend]] they encountered and killed on their return journey.
