Nicelle Sauvage, known as Nicki Savage in her Allomancer Jak publications,[2] is a Scadrian noblewoman, Leecher, and detective.

History

Nicelle Sauvage claims she trained with Baz-Kor monks, who taught her how to fight and get close enough to use her chromium on targets. She also supposedly studied ballet, which enhanced her balance.[1] It is unknown whether any of these claims are true.

She reported briefly glimpsing a figure in a mountain range in the Roughs, describing it as having "piercing eyes, and a face like some otherwordly beast."[3]

She later reports how she retrieved half of a map of New Seran from Nazh that contained a letter from her father.[1][4] In the same excerpt, she also met Hoid.[5]

Her adventures are published in the The House Record and The New Ascendancy.[3][1] She learns the art of storytelling from Jak.[4] Like Jak, she embellishes her stories.[disputed][fn 1]

You silly man. You'll never get rid of me that easily, it's you and me exploring the Cosmere together forever. Just like we promised.

—Nicki talking to Nazh.[6]

During the six following years Nicki eventually served as Jak's assistant for a brief period, she would consider it one of the strangest times in her life, and then became an independent adventurer again. During these ventures she befriended two faceless immortals named Kesun and Tabaar who later became her travelling companions, together they went on many ventures with one involving Tabarr having to disguise himself as a Koloss. She met the Haunted Man many more times as well throughout her travels, to the extent that Nicki counted him as one of her adventuring companions, and they made a promise with each other to explore the Cosmere together. Their relationship slowly took on a romantic tension.[6] Following a public dispute between Jak and his sidekick Handerwym, Sauvage would decide to continue under Handerwym's brand, her newer stories contained comments making fun of Jak's stories and she was more open to allowing Handerwym to edit her work.[6]

Eventually Nicki's travels got her involved in finding a 'Compass of Spirits' which she believed was central to saving scadrial, the compass possessed the ability to send one to the 'Ghost Dimension.' Whilst attempting to reach their destination one of Nicki's rivals, Vila Mecant, stole the compass but forgot to take the key with her. Quickly Nicki moved to hand the key to the device to Nazh so that he could keep it away from Vila while Nicki persuaded her two companions to merge together into a bird. With this done they gave chase to Vila and Nicki fought her off, managing to retrieve the compass in the process. Afterwards she spoke to Nazh who held her and then moved in for a kiss before stealing the compass off Nicki, he apologised before disappearing to the Ghost Dimension. Realising the betrayal Nicki was hurt and panicked realising that there was no way for them to locate Nazh, concluding their quest was lost. KeSun and Tobarr however stopped Nicki and told her that there was another way to enter the ghost dimension that they had never told her about.[6]
