Siah Aimians and the [[Dysian AimianSleepless]]s (also known as SleeplessDysian Aimians) both lived in Aimia prior to the [[scouring of Aimia]], which has been characterized by [[Hessi]] as "total destruction".{{epigraph ref|sa3|113}} The two races are not related.{{wob ref|5479}} Although Axies thinks it has not been long since the scouring, he later considers "a few centuries" to be a relatively short amount of time. Little is known about the current state of Aimia.
 
The etymology of "Siah" and "Dysian" is not known. Both races of Aimians still reside on Roshar and have been seen in various parts of the continent.{{wob ref|9640}}
At some point in history, Siah Aimians and humans created hybrid offspring,{{wob ref|457}} possibly reflected in the blue skin of the people of [[Natanatan]]{{book ref|sa1|36}} or the prominent blue veins of the women of [[Babatharnam]].{{book ref|sa1|46}} Human-Siah hybrids have shadows that are unusual in some way.{{wob ref|11883}}
 
Most cultures on Roshar are stillremain aware of Siah Aimians through legends and limited interaction, but the reaction to them varies from curiosity and unease to outright disgust. Rysn believes that Aimians are bad luck, [[Kylrm]] believes they bring curses onto people, and [[Nlent]] believes they can remove their limbs and skin because they are evil in human form.{{book ref|sa2|i|3}}
