Six years ago, the Assassin in White, a hireling of the inscrutable [[Parshendi]], assassinated the [[Gavilar|Alethi king]] on the very night a treaty between men and Parshendi was being celebrated. Brilliant but troubled Shallan strives along a parallel path.
