The Shard Ambition was created when [[Adonalsium]] was Shattered by a group of people on [[Yolen]].{{msh ref|3|2}} Uli Da took up Ambition and Ascended; she then made her way to the [[Threnodite]] system.{{au ref|threnodite}}
Shortly after the Shattering, the Shard [[Odium]] arrived in the system.{{au ref|threnodite}} Odium desired to be the sole remaining Shard in the Cosmere and considered Ambition to be a dangerous rival; as a result, he had them as number one on his list of Shards to eliminate.{{wob ref|1550}} Ambition, Odium, and [[Mercy]] fought one another in the space between the planets, struggling in all three [[Realmatic Theory|Realms]].{{epigraph ref|row|27}}{{au ref|threnodite}} Odium gained the upper hand and mortally wounded Ambition by tearing off chunks of her power, which altered the people of Threnody as well as the planets in the system.
