The Shard Ambition was created when [[Adonalsium]] was Shattered by a group of people on [[Yolen]] around ten-thousand years before the overthrowing of the [[Cinder King]].{{msh ref|3|2}}{{book ref|tsm|11}} Uli Da took up Ambition and Ascended; she then made her way to the [[Threnodite]] system.{{au ref|threnodite}}
ShortlyOver afterseven-thousand years before the ShatteringTrue Desolation,{{book ref|sa4|14}}{{book ref|sa4|76}} the Shard [[Odium]] arrived in the system.{{au ref|threnodite}} Odium desired to be the sole remaining Shard in the Cosmere and considered Ambition to be a dangerous rival; as a result, he had them as number one on his list of Shards to eliminate.{{wob ref|1550}} Ambition, Odium, and [[Mercy]] fought one another in the space between the planets, struggling in all three [[Realmatic Theory|Realms]].{{epigraph ref|row|27}}{{au ref|threnodite}} Odium gained the upper hand and mortally wounded Ambition by tearing off chunks of her power, which altered the people of Threnody as well as the planets in the system. Ambition managed to escape the system, but she was killed and [[Splinter|Splintered]] in another location despite fighting back.{{au ref|threnodite}}{{wob ref|1554}} This left a wound on the Spiritual Realm and affected Threnody in "disturbing" ways,{{epigraph ref|sa4|27}} as well as having far reaching effects elsewhere in the [[cosmere]].{{wob ref|8881}}{{wob ref|1662}}
