Shifting colors are an [[Investiture]] effect that occurs on the [[Darkside]] of Taldain. Very little is known about them, other than they are an important aspect of Darkside ecology.{{wob ref|3593}} While they are the most prominent on the Darkside, they can also be observed in Dayside's white sand under a microscope, where they take the appearance of a burning point casting rays of "shifting, radiantsomething like shimmering water..., a kind of soft rainbow scaled towards lighter colourscolors. [The same colour given off] by sand that a Sand Master is controlling" - Baon {{book ref|ws2|5}} Whether the colors can be harnessed and used, and what effect they may have, is unknown.
