The leader of the Executive Branch is the Governor. The Governor is elected by the Senate, over which he presides.{{book ref|mb5|6}} The Governor is assisted in his duties by an Executive Staff. Known Executive Staff positions include the sanitation director, minister of trade, secretary of education, and minister of public affairs, and minister of science and technology. The governor has the authority to declare martial law, a strong implication that, like on Earth, law enforcement is considered within the penumbra of the executive branch.
