Difference between revisions of "Hrathen"

Hrathen initially has an antagonistic relationship with Sarene. As Hrathen tries to paint the Elantrians as "svrakis" or devils, Sarene uses her period of mourning to work with the Arelish nobility and provide gifts and food for the Elantrians{{book ref|elantris|20}}. Over time, Hrathen comes to respect Sarene for her skill politics.{{book ref|elantris|54}} He eventually decides to poison Sarene in order to remove her from the equation and end her constant interference with his plans.{{book ref|elantris|39}} Later he realizes that he loves Sarene and saves both her and [[Raoden]] from [[Dilaf]], dying in the process.{{book ref|elantris|62}} As a result of his bravery, Sarene request that he be buried outside Elantris with the others who are honored as heroes.{{book ref|Elantris|epilougeepilogue}}
