The Incident is the term used by the father machine's scholars to refer to the event on Komashi in which some spirits were able to escape the machine and make contact with the residents of Futinoro. Honam believes the Incident occurred because the father machine was experiencing a power shortage.[1]

The Incident resulted in the destruction of Futinoro.[2]
