At that moment, Kalak, possibly having heard Shallan talk to herself, entered the room, and asked if Shallan was here to kill him. He revealed that he always knew [[Thaidakar]] wanted him captured, and explained the conflict between the different generations of honorspren: the elders who wanted to keep themselves isolated, and the younger ones who wanted to keep fighting. Before he could consider it further, [[Lusintia]], Sekeir and other honorpren burst in, accusing Shallan of attempting to influence the trial. Surprisingly, Kalak sided with the [[Order of Lightweavers|Lightweaver]], saying that she was here to bring him news of the [[Physical Realm]]; a half-truth skipping over the assassination attempt.
