Kandra are capable of assuming smaller shapes, but losing too much mass will cause a kandra to be unable to maintain their intelligence.{{wob ref|750}}
Kandra are able to speak to anyone with a Hemalurgic spike by using Harmony's [Connection]] with them, with both parties needing only one spike each for it to be strong enough.{{book ref|mb5|9}} It is unclear whether this was possible before the Catacendre.
