Tress is thoughtful and kind, with a tendency for fixation that lead to a large collection of cups and a natural ability for sprouting.{{book ref|tress|1}} Tress cares for the crew of the ''Crow's Song'' deeply, and risks her life to keep them safe. Tress likes to see the best in people, not willing to accept that they are bad people beyond redemption. Laggart demanded his own death from Tress after Crow was defeated,
