The Waelish are a people on the alternate medieval Earth. They are enemies of the Weswarans[1]. They are ruled by a king, the Black Bear[2], who has ruled unnaturally long[3]. His kingdom is a dark forest[4].

The war between the Waelish and the Weswarans led to the battle of Badon, where the monstrous wolf Fenris killed the goddess Friag[5].

The Waelish are this alternate dimension's version of the Britons[1]. John West recognizes the word as related to "Welsh"[6].
