The specific details of Frost's appearance are unknown. He presumably has the powerful shapeshifting abilities common to his race,{{wob ref|12076}} giving him the power to significantly alter his appearance. His usual appearance is presumably reptilian in nature.{{wob ref|2682}} 

Frost has lived through significant events in the cosmere and has adopted a non-interference policy.{{wob ref|4214}} He's sarcastic and insulting towards Hoid,{{epigraph ref|sa2|62}}{{epigraph ref|sa2|74}} although it is clear that their personal relationship is complicated.{{epigraph ref|sa2|63}}

Like all dragons, Frost is functionally immortal, meaning that he does not age, but he can be killed.{{wob ref|3074}}{{wob ref|5881}} He is the oldest known character in the cosmere, even older than Hoid.{{wob ref|945}} He has gained a second form of immortality on top of his natural dragon immortality through unknown means.{{wob ref|15673}}

Dragons are also known to have the abilities of flight{{wob ref|11737}} and shapeshifting, including the ability to appear human.{{wob ref|2655}}

While not a [[worldhopper]], he is still highly knowledgeable about the cosmere.{{wob ref|3679}} He is associated with the [[Seventeenth Shard]],{{epigraph ref|sa1|26}} a group that shares his nonintervention policy.{{wob ref|1735}} He is able to keep track of current events in the cosmere through the Seventeenth Shard, correspondence, or other means. Among other facts, he knows that Hoid possesses a bead of [[lerasium]] from [[Scadrial]],{{epigraph ref|sa1|14}}{{wob ref|5483}} that [[Odium]] is trapped in the [[Rosharan system]],{{epigraph ref|sa2|69}} and that a gemstone of Hoid's (presumably the [[First Gem]]) is "dead".{{epigraph ref|sa2|60}} Despite the existence of the [[Silverlight Mercantile]] interplanetary postal service, this was not the method Hoid and Frost used to exchange letters, meaning that they had some other means of contacting one another.{{wob ref|12626}}

== Immortality ==
Frost's current mortality status is ambiguous. As a dragon, he is naturally ageless; immortal in the weak sense that he could live forever absent outside intervention. However, Hoid says "as you are '''now''' essentially immortal"{{epigraph ref|sa1|22}} (emphasis added), he must be immortal in ''some'' sense stronger than that.<!--{{wob ref|15673}}, but there's no reason to cite for this, it's literally basic logic.--> But contravening that, we also know that he still can be killed.{{wob ref|3074}}. So Frost is both sufficiently difficult to kill that Hoid would consider him "essentially immortal", but still possible to kill. What this means is not clear; the only known canon phenomenon compatible with it is Shardhood. That has not been strictly ruled out, but we know that Hoid communicates, in one of the known letters, to someone his age who is not a Shardholder{{wob ref|1664}}, and Frost is the probable identity of that correspondent. Other theories are difficult to pose and even harder to support.

==History==
Little is known of Frost's history even though he is truly ancient. He is slightly older than Hoid,{{wob ref|945}} and both of them are known to have lived on [[Yolen]]. In their correspondence, Frost and Hoid seemed to know each other well, and Frost hinted that they had worked together in the past.{{epigraph ref|sa2|66}} They also exhibited a shared personal knowledge of a number of the original sixteen [[Vessel]]s who perpetrated the [[Shattering of Adonalsium]] on Yolen and took up the power of the [[Shard]]s.{{msh ref|3|2}}{{wob ref|11602}} Specifically, the letters mentioned [[Rayse]], [[Bavadin]], [[Aona]], [[Skai]], [[Ati]], and [[Tanavast]] by name, and Frost referenced "the sixteen".{{epigraph ref|sa2|70}} 

In Hoid's initial letter to Frost, it seemed that the two had not spoken in some time; Hoid was not sure if Frost was fully aware of the [[Splinter]]ing of [[Devotion]] and [[Dominion]] on [[Sel]]{{epigraph ref|sa1|22}} even though several millenia had passed since that event.{{epigraph ref|sa2|70}} Hoid begged Frost for his support, implying that Frost still had clout in the cosmere.{{epigraph ref|sa1|28}} Frost rebuffed Hoid, emphasizing his nonintervention policy, and referred to their past actions as having caused more harm than good.{{epigraph ref|sa2|66}} Although Frost seemed to agree with Hoid's assessment that Odium was dangerous,{{epigraph ref|sa2|67}} he did not understand Hoid's level of concern{{epigraph ref|sa1|17}} since Odium was trapped in the [[Rosharan system]].{{epigraph ref|sa2|69}} The two were diametrically opposed on the best way to save the cosmere, and Frost entreated Hoid to abandon his quest; he felt that this was the only way to ensure that Hoid would not make things worse with his meddling.{{epigraph ref|sa2|60}}

Frost still lived on Yolen during Roshar's [[True Desolation]].{{wob ref|2565}}
