The Coppermind has spoilers for all of Brandon's published works, now including The Sunlit Man. In the States of the Wode, Concept is the main defining trait of Machineborn's character, or possibly a catch-all word for the whole of the AI's character. Examples of Concept include Shale wearing his full-plate armor at all times, or chancellor Besk's cleverness[1].

Concepts can be hacked and rewritten, thereby altering personality of Machineborn, though it is implied to be somewhat difficult[1].
